GABRIELA RENNER (LEUTTER)

GABRIELA RENNER (nee LEUTTER) After a long and full life, following a lengthy illness, Gabriela passed away on June 2, 2009 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband Frank and her brother Frantisek. She leaves to cherish her memory her nieces and nephew in Slovakia, her good friend Edward Bednar and family and her many godchildren. Gabriela was born in Presov, Slovakia on August 16, 1920. Growing up in Slovakia she followed her passion of singing and playing piano which led up to her singing on the radio. At this point a young man named Frank fell in love with her voice so much that he decided to marry this girl. In 1942 they wed and moved to Canada in 1948. She was a long time resident of Winnipeg and was very involved in the Slovak Community. Gabriela was also very active at singing and playing organ in church. She enjoyed entertaining her many friends with her Slovak cooking and baking and her plum dumplings were always a special treat. We would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital - 6A and 4th Floor, Lions Manor Personal Care Home for their kindness, thoughtfulness and care. Prayers will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 505 Brewster Street. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, with viewing taking place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Crypt in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street.
